Join The School Board

Candidates for the Pelham Board of Education must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old and have resided in the school district for at least one year.

In addition, CNC bylaws stipulate the candidate must have the following qualifications in order to receive a CNC nomination:

– General interest in education and a belief in the public school system

– Demonstrated ability to work well with others

– Knowledge of current local community issues as they affect the Pelham  

  public education system

– Ability and willingness to execute faithfully the duties of a member of  the Board of Education.

A CNC nomination is NOT an endorsement. It is an assessment that the candidate possesses the qualifications set forth by the NYS School Boards Association along with the qualifications specific to Pelham as set forth by the CNC. This assessment is carried out after careful consideration, investigation and a personal interview with the candidate. Candidates likewise benefit from the due diligence process as it provides each candidate the opportunity to kickstart their personal research into into the role and refer to the committee for guidance, until the. point of interview.
